October 2023 President's Corner

President's Corner

First, I would like to congratulate our Board of Directors, Volunteers, and Members for achieving the milestone of 700 members this month! This would not have been possible without the labor, efforts, and passion from all our chapter leaders and volunteers. Our goals for this year were to achieve 701 members for the year. I am pleased to report that we have surpassed this goal!

This month there’s an abundant amount of activity. Below are a few links to important events which include our chapter elections, the chapter PDD, and many of our chapter leaders will be attending the PMI Global Summit in Atlanta this month.

I look forward to some of you nominating yourself or someone else to our Board of Directors for the election this year and hope to see many of you at the PDD or PMI Global Summit!

Have a great month! I hope you enjoy the selected articles and podcast.

How Companies Can Recommit to Their DEI Goals

After the summer of 2020 in the United States, many organizations made a big push to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion in their ranks and operations. But now, many fear that that momentum is slipping, especially in the face of economic headwinds. Laura Morgan Roberts, organizational psychologist and professor at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, says it is time to recommit to these efforts by creating the conditions for all workers to flourish. She explains four freedoms that organizations can foster to allow employees to become their best selves — and even be able to fade into the background when they choose. Roberts wrote the HBR Big Idea article “Where Does DEI Go From Here?” https://hbr.org/podcast/2023/09/how-companies-can-recommit-to-their-dei-goals

I hope you enjoyed and found value!

We look forward to seeing you at our next event!

2023 PMICAC President
