PM Research Study Survey Participation
Greetings, PMI Central Alabama! I am a current doctoral student at the University of the Cumberlands, completing a dissertation in the Ph.D. of Business program with a Project Management emphasis. I would like to voluntarily ask current PMICAC members for your participation in this research study.
My dissertation is tentatively titled A Study of the Relationship Between Organizational Culture and Self-Efficacy in Project Managers. My research is supervised by my professor, Dr. Monica Bess. I am hopeful to survey PMI members on self-efficacy and organizational culture with one combined instrument of two evidenced-based sources: Blomquist’s Project Management Self-Efficacy Scale (PMSE-6) and the Organizational Description Questionnaire (ODQ), to find any significant statistical correlations between the two.
PMI members are the desired target for my research, as the study is specific to project managers, and PMI is the most distinguished and recognized professional project management organization.
If members agree to participate, their responses will be treated confidentially, and identities (their names and the name of their organizations) will remain anonymous. Individual privacy will be maintained in all published and written data from the study.
The results will be communicated in the final published dissertation format. A hyperlink or printed copy of the final research can be provided to you at your request.
The research participants will not be advantaged or disadvantaged in any way. They will be reassured that they can withdraw their permission during this project without penalty. There are no foreseeable risks in participating in this study, and the time commitment is minimal and limited to survey completion, approximately 15 minutes, although most that have completed the survey share it only takes about 8-10 minutes. The participants will not be paid for this study.

All research data will be preserved anonymously.
I am hopeful the results of this research will help add understanding and knowledge around the impact the organizational environment has specific to the project manager and concerning self-efficacy in project managers. Self-efficacy is a known desired trait for project managers, and knowing the influence culture may have on fostering or enhancing that trait would be highly beneficial.
