PMO Global Alliance Announcement

Announcement

The Project Management Institute (PMI) has recently acquired PMO Global Alliance (PMOGA), the largest community of project management office (PMO) professionals in the world, in a significant development for the project management community. This strategic move aims to strengthen PMI's commitment to supporting experienced PMO professionals and enhancing the global PMO community. The field of project management has evolved, and PMOs have become an integral part of the success of organizations worldwide. The most effective PMOs now have a significant influence on an organization's strategy and play a pivotal role in fostering value-driven cultures.

Research conducted by PMI and PwC reveals that the most mature PMOs even include C-suite-level roles, indicating their growing importance in organizational decision-making. Pierre Le Manh, President & Chief Executive Officer of PMI, emphasized the organization's dedication to empowering project professionals throughout their career journeys. He stated, "We’re dedicated to empowering project professionals through their entire career journey – from early learning to advancing into the PMO. Acquiring PMOGA is key to us strengthening how we support PMO professionals and fulfilling our purpose, especially as PMOs play a crucial role in project success and the growth of the project management profession." This landmark acquisition is poised to expand PMOGA's reach and amplify the collective value that both organizations can bring to project professionals across the globe. The Chief Executive Officer and Founder of PMOGA, Americo Pinto, will continue to lead the organization as part of PMI. PMOGA is a global community with over 17,000 members in more than 125 countries. It has developed two professional certifications – the PMO Certified Practitioner (PMO-CP) and the PMO Certified Consultant (PMO-CC) certifications. Members enjoy access to a comprehensive library of learning resources and events, including the upcoming PMOGA World Unconference (PMOUNCON) in Paris, France on December 4-5, 2023.

Additionally, PMOGA hosts the PMO Global Awards to recognize and celebrate outstanding PMOs and PMO professionals. Americo Pinto, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of PMOGA, expressed his enthusiasm for this partnership, saying, "PMOGA and PMI have a common passion: empowering professionals and organizations to deliver more value. With this news, PMI becomes that single place where PMO professionals and organizations can find the knowledge and learning experiences they need to create successful and impactful PMOs. It will unlock new opportunities for the global PMO community." This exciting acquisition signifies a promising future for the PMO community and the project management profession as a whole, promising more extensive support, resources, and opportunities for professionals at all stages of their careers.
