November 2020 Chapter Meeting
Due to the current realities with COVID 19, we are going to try something new with our chapter meetings. We are going to be hosting a virtual meeting each month via WebEx. The meetings will continue to be on the third Tuesday from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM. The next meeting will be November 17th. We ask that you continue to register via our website (pmicac.org) and the cutoff will be Monday November 16th at noon. Everyone who registers will receive an email before the meeting with the login information as well as the PDU claim code. Per the PMI code of ethics each individual is responsible for only claiming the PDUs to which you are entitled. Obviously this is a new process for us so I ask everyone's patience and cooperation if there are any hiccups. Feel free to email any questions to Ray Crocker, MBA, PMP.
Speaker:David Mantica, VP and General Manager for Soft Ed US
Topic:Understand the Human Work Machine: How our Brains Impact our Success
We are a work machine. We are knowledge workers and the primary instrument that drives the work we do is our brains. Now, how much do you know about how your brain works? In very pragmatic terms: How do you process information? What is your brain’s default settings? Why do we react emotionally even in logical work environments? Even when we can “think” about something what are the distortions that can impact that thinking?
Knowing these things does two things; one, it enables you to self-assess and self-manage, you can protect yourself from these distortions and two, it enables you to better manage work relationships and manage work situations. The reality is, it is no longer about what you can do aka your technical skills, it about how well you can get things done, an in all cases that means how effectively you can work with others. Understanding the Human Work Machine is the critical foundation to working with others.
