Community in Action - Inside Airport Projects - Copy
As part of PMICAC’s 2026 Community in Action theme, this experience highlights how project management supports the systems that power Birmingham’s infrastructure and economic growth.
The airport represents a complex, live operational environment where planning, coordination, and execution occur continuously. This experience connects project professionals directly to that reality.
On Thursday, August 6, PMICAC members are invited to experience more than an airport tour. It's an opportunity to explore how executive leadership, strategic decision-making, and project execution come together inside one of Birmingham's most complex organizations.
The Airport Leadership Experience provides a unique opportunity to explore how executive leadership, strategic planning, and project execution work together to support airport operations and modernization efforts.
Inside the Experience
- Visit active operational areas within the terminal where current infrastructure improvements are underway, offering a firsthand look at how major capital projects are delivered while the airport remains fully operational.
- Travel onto the airfield to experience how planning, construction, operations, and safety converge in an environment where precision, coordination, and continuous movement are essential.
- Hear directly from airport executive leadership as they discuss how governance, regulatory oversight, communications, strategic planning, and stakeholder collaboration drive decision-making and enable the airport to modernize while maintaining seamless daily operations.
We will hear from:
Ingrid Hairston, A.A.E., PMP, Chief Revenue Officer
Kim Hunt, MPA, C.M., Vice President of Communications
Marcelo Lima, A.A.E., Vice President of Planning and Development
