Member Spotlight: Different Scale, Same Standards

Ways of Working
How do project management practices translate from a corporate environment to a smaller firm? In this PMICAC Member Spotlight, Ashley C. Newton, MEng, PMP, Project Operations Manager at SARCOR, LLC, will share insights from her transition and the work she leads today. Drawing on practical examples, she will discuss what changes with organizational size, which standards remain essential, and how processes can be adapted to fit a smaller team. Members will get to know Ashley’s work while exploring lessons they can apply in their own organizations.

Her transition from managing technology initiatives in larger organizations to supporting projects
within a small engineering firm has reinforced an important principle: the size of an organization may change, but the standards of effective project management should not.

In her presentation, “Different Scale, Same Standards: Project Management in a Small Firm,” Ashley will share practical insights on adapting project management methodologies to leaner
teams, balancing structure with flexibility, navigating competing priorities, and maintaining accountability without unnecessary bureaucracy.

With a leadership philosophy grounded in collaboration, continuous improvement, and servant leadership, Ashley believes successful project management is not defined by the size of a team or budget, but by the consistency of its processes, the clarity of its communication, and the quality of its results.
